How do I search the Classic Driver Marketplace?

Simply use the keyword entry search bar for titles or headings.

Alternatively you can use the filters on the left hand side which permit you to narrow down the search results by combining various search criteria. The following options are available:

  • Make and Model
  • Price
  • Year
  • Location
  • Mileage
  • Competition
  • Car type
  • Colour
  • Drive
  • Condition
  • Type of seller

After each search criterion (in brackets) is a hit indicator which tells you how many results there are relating to your previously specified search options. This allows you to narrow down your search right to the last detail.

Clicking the search button will see your search results displayed in a list. Click on the listing picture or title to go to a detailed view of the listing.

The search criteria you have specified is displayed above the search results. You can remove each individual search criterion in order to widen your search.

By default, the search results will be displayed in a gallery view. You can choose to browse in list view by selecting the option.

On the search results list, you can either save a listing to your Wishlist, or select it for comparison with other listings. Do either by moving your mouse pointer over the images.

Sorting your Search Results

You can sort your search results by criteria using the drop-down menu above the search results list. Options include arrangement by Price, Listing Age, Year or Mileage.

Refining or Modifying your Search Results

In the column to the left of the Search Results, you can narrow your search further without needing to return to the main search options.

Each search filter criterion will show you (in brackets) how many corresponding results there are once that filter has been applied. When you select a filter, it will show alongside any other selected search terms above the results.

3. Private Seller

How can I become a Private Seller?

Registering as a Private Seller

If you’d like to create listings on Classic Driver as a private seller, you must first register as a CD Member.

From the registration page, choose ‘Private Seller’ and complete the registration form. You can then begin creating your listing.

Payment information

Once you have successfully registered as a Private Seller and created your listing, you can pay securely via credit/debit card or PayPal. These details can be stored for future use at your request. Once the payment is processed, the listing will be inspected and approved by our Marketplace team – this should take no longer than 24 hours.

Adding images and/or videos to your listing

You can select up an unlimited number of images (one image is mandatory) to display in your listing, as well as one video. By taking full advantage of this, you significantly increase your chances of selling; listings with numerous high-quality images are viewed and added to users’ Wishlists much more frequently than those without.

High-quality pictures and videos are a sure-fire way to grab the attention of a prospective buyer. Another is to highlight your listing with a larger picture at the top of relevant search results. Top Listings are available for a small additional fee.

Note: we can only process images up to 20MB and in the .png, .gif, .jpg or .jpeg formats. Videos are limited to 200MB (depending on the browser used), and must be in .avi, .mpeg, .mp4, .mov, .ogg, .oga, .ogv, .wmv or .m4v format. Only use images and videos which relate directly to the product (also ensure they’re not misleading or spoiled with third-party watermarks), and make catalogue images clearly identifiable. Violations will give us no choice but to delete your listing.

Uploading procedure

You can add photos and video either by individually selecting them, or by dragging and dropping into the browser window when prompted. Once you click ‘add files’, they are uploaded to the Classic Driver website, although this might take some time, depending on file size. When the upload is complete, the image and video files will be displayed in your listing.

Adding, changing or deleting assets

Normally, you’ll add photos or video when creating the listing. If you’d like to add/edit/remove assets at a later date, click the ‘Edit’ box in the listing.

Note: Only the first image or video will be displayed in the search results; all others will be seen when the user clicks on your listing from the results. To change to a new main picture, simply replace the first image uploaded.

My Listings

In this area, you can view your entire inventory, sort and edit your listings, and analyse numerical reports. This page is divided into three sections:

Browse Inventory

In the upper pane, you can browse your inventory according to different selection criteria, such as brand, model, and reference number.

Stocklist

Here you have the option to Edit or Delete. Deleting an advert is permanent and cannot be reversed.

Selection actions for the entire stocklist

You can assign an action to an individual advert, or all on the currently displayed page. Once selected, you can print, delete, promote to a Top Listing, or change its visibility.

Mark a listing as ‘Private’

With the ‘private’ option, if you have received an offer for one of your listings, you can prevent it being displayed in the search results. You can hold listings for your customers, or make your entire inventory invisible to customers, for example, if you’re away on vacation. You can toggle this listing option in the Stocklist.

Top Listings

With this option, your listing is promoted (in rotation with any other booked Top Listings) to the top of all relevant search results, thus increasing its exposure to potential buyers.

The Top Listing must be booked for a minimum of 14 days and is subject to a charge.

Gross and Net Prices

You can list your offering under either a gross or net price, or alternatively as ‘Price on Request’. If you’d like to assign VAT, you can either select a predefined VAT percentage from the dropdown menu, or manually enter your own figure. After selecting the VAT percentage, the price is automatically recalculated and shown in the listing preview.

If you selected 'No' in the VAT section, you’ll only be able to specify a gross price for your listing. All listings with deductible VAT (i.e. with a VAT rate selected) will have both net and gross prices displayed to users of the dealer’s home market.

Statistics

In this area the following values for each of your listings will be displayed instantly: Price, initial listing date, clicks (to date), number of the times saved to Wishlist, and e-mail enquiries (to date). All other data fields are updated overnight, and are therefore up to a day old.

For a better overview, you can sort the offerings listed in the table by category (cars, motorcycles, etc.).

Note: In certain instances, mistakes in the data can occur due to trawling search bots, such as those used by Google. As there is no way for us to differentiate between these bots and actual customers, these visits can be included in the statistics.

Note: If a listing is created and deleted on the same day, it will not show up in the search results.

Listings on Wishlist

This figure shows you how many potential buyers have saved the respective listing to their Wishlist. This information is displayed in the statistics and serves as a reference to the attractiveness of your listings.

This section allows you to see the data displayed about you on your listings. Please share any changes with us immediately.
